Welcome to the

Kildare County Employment Service

Which has over the years has assisted many thousands of local people in successfully returning to work, through the provision of One-to-One Career Guidance, Interview and Job Seeking Supports, Training, and direct Placement with companies both within the County and further afield.

Since September 2022 we have been operating the Kildare Local Area Employment Service and prior to that the Local Employment Service (Obair) contract.

Although the names of services provided have changed over the years, KCEC is a not for profit organization rooted in the community having evolved from an initiative taken in October 1995 by Kildare Centres for the unemployed, and managed by a voluntary board drawn from the local community.

How does the process work?

Your Caseworker will support you through your journey to employment and will work with you to identify your skills, experience and job goals and help you to develop a Personal Progression Plan (PPP) to clarify & achieve those goals. You will be able to contact us by email or phone and can request an appointment at any time to see your caseworker.

You will receive a wide range of individual supports, tailored to your needs, to ensure you make the most of your time with us. Our core services to you include the guidance and support provided by your caseworker, preparation of a CV, helping you look for work including supporting you to find and apply for jobs, preparing you for interviews and talking through any feedback from interviews you do.

We will ask you for your view of our service at least once while you are with us and again, after you have found work. We also welcome feedback at any point throughout your guidance journey.

We may be able to provide you with industry-specific training, including digital skills, manual handling, HACCP Food Safety and Safe Pass. You will be able to do some of these courses online, either at home or in our offices, at your own pace. Some supports may be in a group setting, for example, interview skills and job search skills.

Once you start a job, we will keep in touch with you then, if for any reason, your job does not work out, we will do everything we can to get you straight into a new one. We will check in with you for up to a year after you start work and if you leave or lose your job, you can come back to us over a 52-week period from the date of referral.

How to Avail of the Service:

Clients may be referred directly by Department of Social Protection DSP, or you may wish to self-refer. In the case of a person self-referring we need to send basic information (Name, Address, PPS Number). to DSP and once they deem the service as being appropriate to a person needs they will confirm the referral.

To date, people self-referring, once they are not linked in with other DSP supports, have been approved to avail of the LAES.

All of our clients have access to one-to-one job seeking supports including career guidance, CV analysis, interview techniques and communication skills.
